GEO257   Qualitative Methods   (10 credits)

Year Running: 2016/2017
Credit level: F5

Description

This module builds on and develops skills and understanding of a range of qualitative research approaches used in contemporary human geography. The module will focus on a number of methodological approaches (e.g., qualitative interview, visual, digital, participatory, ethnography, focus groups, life histories, case study) and consider the relative strengths of the resulting data and the analytical approaches used to make sense of these forms of data. These approaches are considered in the context of research design more broadly, alongside key concerns such as positionality and research ethics.
